Over two years in the making, and using curated, reclaimed and vintage materials and objects, Spinks Nest is the very definition of rustic luxe. It has an old gardener’s flint cottage vibe that will surprise and delight you the minute you open the front door: the colours, textures, scents, warmth, light and sheer elan will leave you smitten.
Exposed ancient flint walls, lime render, reclaimed oak beams, bricks and Norfolk pamments sit next to Mulberry Home fabrics, Designers Guild bedlinen and towels, and a Woolroom wool mattress and bedding. A romantic boutique cottage for two (and the dog), five minutes from Holt and fifteen from the North Norfolk coast.

Woodburner
In a brick inglenook
Garden terrace
And a wildflower meadow

01
The sitting room
A vaulted ceiling under reclaimed oak beams, and a woodburner set into a brick inglenook against the ancient flint wall. Deep leather armchairs with velvet cushions, a painted green chest, curtains in vintage print, and dried hydrangeas drifting over the hearth. The place to curl up after a long coastal walk.

02
Kitchen & dining
Dark cabinetry and open shelves of crockery, glassware and terracotta pots against the flint, and an old pine table in a panelled corner by the window, made for long breakfasts. Bring back something good from the farm shops and delis nearby and cook.

03
The bedroom
Tucked under the eaves beside exposed flint and brick, with a Woolroom wool mattress and bedding, Designers Guild bedlinen, a handwoven bedspread and butterfly-print pillows. Coat hangers hang from an old wooden ladder against the flint, and the window looks out to the garden.

04
Bathroom & shower
Deep green panelling, a big ceramic basin and a walk-in shower with brass fittings, plus Designers Guild towels. Guests tell us it’s a highlight, not least the very unique toilet flush you’ll challenge yourself to master. It can be done!

05
Outside
A flint and brick cottage on a quiet lane in Hunworth, with an oak front door framed by pots of plants. There’s a gravel terrace with a table, chairs and a parasol for long lunches, and a wildflower meadow full of clover in summer. It shares its grounds with Riverbank, our sister cottage, with the old gardener’s sheds and a well between the two. At dusk the porch light comes on and the whole place glows.

06
The details
Dried teasels against the flint, a framed needlework sampler and butterfly collection, a leaf pressed into a Norfolk pamment and a painted nest on a plate: small, found and vintage pieces, many from the antique shops around Holt.
